A Note about my Singer Name, Tori
It’s kind of a funny story. My name is Tori Kelley (2 E’s), but so is another very talented singer, Victoria Loren Kelley who you know as Tori Kelly (1 E). What’s with all the Victorias suddenly going by Tori? My name on my birth certificate is Tori. I’ve never had a nickname. It was no fun as a kid not seeing your name on a mug or a magnet or anything. But now, my name has become popular! It was awesome until I wrote some songs and went into a studio to record them and make my debut album, BEAUTIFUL PAIN, which was a very hard album to make because each song is about a very private trauma that I was healing from through music.
The first thing my producer said to me was, “Your name is already taken.” I said, “Well…okay then. I’ll just be Tori, like Cher or Madonna.”
I wish! <<cries with laughter>>
So, if you are searching for my music, please just type in Tori, True to You (or Beautiful Pain), and leave my last name out of it, or you’ll be serenaded by another lovely voice, which wouldn’t be bad at all. But I really would love for you to listen to my songs, especially since I’m in a much happier and healthier place now. Creative Resilience works!
